Others Online is a toolbar for Internet Explorer that shows you people relevant to your Web browsing and other interests, on every page you visit. We show you the interests you have in common, plus their Web pages and online status. You need only be online (but not necessarily browsing the Web) to be available to others -- on your terms. Others Online allows users to communicate with each other by instant message or email, which we broker to protect your privacy. Use Others Online to find other like-minded Internet users and also help them find YOU, based on your shared interests. Imagine:
- Every time you search the Web, you'll see people that have associated themselves to those keywords, plus you'll see any other interests you share. It's like "Google for people"!
- You're shopping for a new MP3 player online. As you browse the Web, you'll see every other user across the Web who's looking at the same MP3 player, or who has explicitly indicated that product as an interest.
- Your blog is all about cars, but you don't get a lot of readers. In your profile, you include as an "interest" all the cars you write about. Now your profile shows up to every other user looking at Web pages where those keywords show up, and you're getting a lot more visits to your blog. Plus you can see their profiles too!
- Right now your MySpace community is only on myspace.com. With Others Online, you see relevant people from your MySpace community on every other Web site you visit!
